Primorsko, Bulgaria
The town of Primorsko is a climate resort and a center for youth tourism. It is situated 5 km north of the village of Kiten, 55 km south of Bourgas and 442 km southeast of Sofia. It lies on a cape jutting out between the Stamopolo bay and the Dyavolski (Devil’s) bay. The old Turkish village, which once existed there, bore the name of Chenger and later on that of Kyupria.Primorsko is famous for its graceful arcing ten-kilometer sandy beach, the longest and prettiest on the coast. The resort is a haven for the tourists who flock here in droves to avail themselves of the numerous trade union rest homes, hostels, student dorms and campgrounds. The area is forested with deciduous trees and vegetation and also boasts a park with numerous alleys in an old oak wood. The relief of Primorsko is unique with its diversity and beauty. The two vast beaches, covered with fine golden sand, are surrounded by picturesque dunes. The coastline covers an area of more than 1045 sq. meters. The climate of the region is Continental-Mediterranean and this is a precondition for a warm and sunny summer with refreshing daytime breeze and relatively high night temperatures. Average temperature for July – 23-24 degrees Centigrade. Surrounding areas The resort of Dyuni is 12 km north of Primorsko. It was built in 1987, and is the result of a Bulgarian–Austrian project. After the mouth of the Ropotamo river and the wonderful natural reserve along the last 20 kilometers of the river is Maslen cape. Its rocky profile and high slopes down to the sea give a fantastic view to all the tourists who have climbed it and below, in between the fjords and rocks are the small and quiet coves covered with pebbles and shells. Nearby is Perla (Pearl) camp site and the marsh of Stàmopolo. |
