Ognyanovo, Bulgaria
The village of Ognyanovo is located 12 km northwest of the town of Gotze Delchev in the area of the municipality of Garmen. The municipality covers a territory of 388 321 decares, in the west-southern part of Bulgaria. It takes parts from the valley of the Mesta River and from the western flank of the Debar ridge in the Rhodopes Mountains. The municipality neighbors the municipalities of Satovcha to the east, Bansko to the north, Hadjidimovo to the south, Velingrad to the north-east and Gotze Delchev to the south-west. The climate allows balneology and climate treatment all year round. The municipality is also famous for the riches of colorful rugs, woven on the old domestic looms.The average altitude of the village of Ognyanovo is 540 meters above sea level, tucked away in greenery encompassed undulating area. The village has its own mineral spring known as “Miroto”. It is located among marvelous nature and clear mountain air. The mineral springs have been used back in the Roman times (Nicopolis ad Nestrum). There are balneological outfits and a reconstructed bath building left over from that time. The mineral water is clear, with no smell and taste, low mineralized, hydrocarbonated-sulfate-sodium, silicon, fluoric. The water has high alkaline reaction - PH 8.1 – 9.4. It is suitable for a number of diseases: • Bone-joint diseases • Neurological diseases • Gynecological diseases • Digestive troubles and affection of the lung • Decease of the secretory system • Occupational, children’s, adults’ diseases SURROUNDING AREAS The road, which slopes down to the village of Ognyanovo leads to an invaluable historical sight – the village-museum of Kovachevitsa, which has preserved the specific architecture of the Rhodopes since the time of the Bulgarian Revival. The village is a perfect place for cultural-cognitive tourism and for calm relaxation among the traditional houses of the Rhodopes. The ruins of the Roman town of Nicopolis ad Nestrum (IV century A. D.) are an exceptionally valuable historical monument. They are situated just 15 minutes away by car from the balneological resort of the Ognyanovo’s mineral springs. The village of Leshten is turned into an advanced holiday village for country tourism. The villages of Dolen and Delchevo are other village-museums, which combined with the Monastery in the village of Hadjidimovo, contribute to the great diversity of the region. |
